I created Yosemitebigwall.com in 2008 with one clear goal: To help more people connect with the magical world of Yosemite Bigwall Climbing. As a 5.9 leader, I've struggled with the elite attitudes that can prevail in Yosemite at times, and I want a place where everyone can seek and find a multi-day climbing adventure appropriate for them. In 2014 I published Yosemite Bigwalls: The Complete Guide with co-author Roger Putnam. In 2015, Roger and I released an annual ebook companion version to our printed guide. The new ebook has articles about bigwall climbs and other new stuff.

Roger Putnam - co-author

Roger Putnam started bigwalling in Yosemite in 2006 while working for the Resource Management and Science Division of the National Park Service. In 2013, Roger earned a masters degree in geology from Chapel Hill, NC, where he created the first geologic map of El Capitan and was featured in National Geographic:

To create this map, Roger climbed El Cap four times to collect data and spent hundreds of hours examining high resolution images of the cliff. When he is not geologizing, you can usually find Roger on the walls of Yosemite. Contact Roger via email: roger@yosemitebigwall.com
